Choose your packages
The download page offers the desktop app, with a window, and the command line, each for your kind of processor, as a .deb for Debian and Ubuntu and as an .rpm for Fedora. The desktop app needs the command line package too, so download both, in the format your system uses. To see which kind your computer needs, run the command below in a terminal, then take the packages whose buttons show the word it prints.
uname -m | sed -e s/x86_64/amd64/ -e s/aarch64/arm64/Check the package
This step is optional. The download page shows each package's fingerprint under Check the file: a long code that changes completely if even one character of the file is different. Run the command below for the format you downloaded and compare the codes it prints with those fingerprints.
.deb
sha256sum "$(xdg-user-dir DOWNLOAD)"/kaza*.deb.rpm
sha256sum "$(xdg-user-dir DOWNLOAD)"/kaza*.rpmFor the strongest check, also confirm that we signed the release. The guide to checking a download shows how.
Install it
Run the two commands below for your format in a terminal: .deb on Debian and Ubuntu, .rpm on Fedora. The first opens your Downloads folder, and the second installs both KazaVPN packages you downloaded together, with everything they need. Your system asks for your password.
.deb
cd "$(xdg-user-dir DOWNLOAD)"
sudo apt install ./kaza*_$(dpkg --print-architecture).deb.rpm
cd "$(xdg-user-dir DOWNLOAD)"
sudo dnf install ./kaza-*.rpm ./kazavpn-*.rpmSign in and connect
With the desktop app, open KazaVPN from your apps, sign in and connect. From a terminal, run kaza login and sign in with your KazaVPN account, then run sudo kaza connect.
Run kaza status to check the connection, and sudo kaza disconnect to end it.
Update or remove KazaVPN
To update, download both new packages and install them with the same two commands. They replace the old version.
To remove KazaVPN, run the command below for your format. It removes the desktop app and the command line.
.deb
sudo apt remove kazavpn kaza.rpm
sudo dnf remove kazavpn kaza
