Install KazaVPN on Windows

The installer sets up KazaVPN on your PC in a couple of minutes. Windows shows a warning or two on the way, and this guide says what to choose at each one.

Download the installer

Use the PC where you want KazaVPN.

  1. Open the download page and select the button under Windows.
  2. If your browser says the file is not commonly downloaded, choose to keep it: in Edge, select Keep, then Show more and Keep anyway; in Chrome, select Download suspicious file.

Check the file

This step is optional. The download page shows the installer's fingerprint under Check the file: a long code that changes completely if even one character of the file is different. Open PowerShell from the Start menu, paste the command below and press Enter.

Get-FileHash $HOME\Downloads\kazavpn-windows-*.exe

If the code under Hash matches the fingerprint on the download page, the file is exactly the one we published. If it does not match, delete the file and download it again.

Run the installer

Windows warns about an app from a publisher it does not know yet. These steps take you past the warning.

  1. Open the file from your browser's downloads, or from your Downloads folder.
  2. If a window says Windows protected your PC, select More info, then Run anyway.
  3. When Windows asks whether to allow this app from an unknown publisher to make changes to your device, select Yes.
  4. Follow the installer to the end and select Finish. KazaVPN opens by itself.

The first time, the installer may download a few Windows components that KazaVPN needs, so keep your PC online until it finishes. If Windows says Smart App Control blocked the file, your PC runs only apps Windows already recognises: to use KazaVPN, turn Smart App Control off in Windows Security, under App and browser control, then run the installer again.

Sign in and connect

Sign in with your KazaVPN account. Later, you can open KazaVPN from the Start menu.

The first time you connect, Windows asks for permission so that KazaVPN can set up its connection. Select Yes.

Update or remove KazaVPN

When a newer version is out, KazaVPN tells you. Download the new installer and run it. It replaces the old version and keeps your settings.

To remove KazaVPN, open Settings, go to Apps, find KazaVPN in your installed apps and choose Uninstall.
