The short version

KazaVPN is built so that a valid legal request reaches very little: we run no logs, and our servers hold nothing about what an account did online. This page says what we can give, what we cannot, where to send a request, and what happens with one that does not come through the courts.

Where to send a request

Send legal process to legal@kazavpn.com. Say who is asking, under what authority, and exactly what you are asking for; the more specific the request, the faster we can answer it.

What we require

We act on valid legal process: a subpoena, a court order, a warrant, or the equivalent, issued by a court or authority with jurisdiction over us. A request from outside that reach goes through the channel the law provides between that country and ours; we do not act on a request that skips it, however it is worded.

What we can give

Valid process can reach whether an address has an account, which plan it is on, its billing history, the device keys tied to it, and, if a device is connected at the moment we look, which server it is using. The no-logs page lists everything we hold and everything we do not, in full.

What does not exist to hand over

  • No browsing history, no record of the names a device looked up, and no destination addresses.
  • No record of which server an address used at a time in the past, and no history of past connections.
  • No bandwidth or traffic volume tied to a person.

Telling the account holder

Unless the law or the order itself forbids it, we tell the account holder that a request reached us and what it asked for.

Emergency requests

Where there is a real, immediate risk to someone's life or safety, write to legal@kazavpn.com and say so plainly; we review these first. We still act only once we can tell that the request truly comes from the authority it names.
